AV \ AS Renewal

Hi, I've just renewed my A/V A/Spam licence but it appears not to be working.

When logged into the admin section \ status \ licence the licence appears to be correct:

Anti-virus users [ Expiration date ]: 5 [ 12/9/2010 ]Real-time Anti-spam users [ Expiration date ]: 5 [ 12/9/2010 ]

However, when I click to AntiVirus \ Update it says that the licenced number of users has been exceeded, and Incorrect Licence next to Anti Virus Licence Expiration.

Further, the Anti Spam does not appear to be working.

I purchased a 5 user licence as we have 5 users on the system, and our original Lansuite product was a 5 user install. However I wonder if it's because there was a min 10 user option on the new groupware ?

I've stopped and restarted the service to no difference.

I've posted this as a support request and tried to call software602 but no response at all. Is software602 still operating ?

I am sure it is because you have a 10 user license for Groupware. This is the minimum # of users. It wouldn't matter if you had 1 user. You have to order the SPAM / AV for the maximum # of users your installation allows.

I don't think I would have spent the money for it. While we did purchase the A/V & Spam initially, I would not renew at this point due to Software602's lack of support for this product. I have read that they will be discontinuing Groupware shortly.

Since you have such a small installation, if your users use desktop AV, that should be more than enough.

When I started with Lansuite, they had an interface with Grisoft AVG Anti Virus so that is what I started purchasing for my clients and it has not let me down. I support 100's of users and I have never had a virus outbreak (Knock On Wood) www.grisoft.com (They even have a free version for private use. I also recommend Teamviewer www.teamviewer.com for remote support.

Hi Barry,

I'm sure you are right. I added another 5 licences and it works now, but as you say, Software 602 appear to be no longer supporting the product.

The support request I placed last week has still not been answered which is very annoying. It seems that I need to start looking for a Lansuite alternative - do you have any suggestions ? The elements which make it good for us is the built in web mail which allows several users to be logged into the shared company email box.

I have been told that Software602 will be offering a transition to icewarp. www.icewarp.com. I originally compared GW6 to icewarp and I chose GW6 mainly because of the upgrade path from LS2004. The feature set and cost was higher for icewarp. At least they are still around.

I am so dissappointed. I have been using software602 products for 7 years and I have been very satisfied... Till now.

Yes, same here. We're a long time user and have found the product excellent for our needs. Such a shame.

It's hard to see us switching to the new one unless the pricing is similar and the upgrade is simple. I'm getting fed up with throwing money at software that has a 3 year (or less) lifespan.
