Proxy Error
Posted by  Ali Farooqui  on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 3:46:15 PM (EST)
Server Starts up fine runs OK for few hours and then Web Client Users Only get this message :

Proxy Error
The proxy server could not handle this request.

Same message for internal as well as for outside (LAN) users.. but for Other clients using Outlook etc... email is just fine.

Problem gets resolved after "Server" re-boot not after program re-start.

Any Ideas ...

I'd test the internet connection by bypassing the proxy. You need to do this on the physical machine where the proxy server resides. Just change the browser's connection preferences to direct connection and try surfing. If it doesn't work close or turn off the LANSuite service and try it again. If it still doesn't work the problem probably OS related. If it does work while LANSuite is running then it is more likely LANSuite.

Webmail uses Http, which is port 80.

Clients like Outlook use POP3, which is port 110.

NOw since you are having problems with proxy when using Webmail, does that also mean you have a problem with general internet access. In otherwords do your internal clients us LanSuite to access the internet, and do they have problems?

Couple of things I can think of:
In your PROXY server setup, check mark "For HTTP Proxy use port other than for WWW server:", and specify a different port number to seperate the proxy from internet port of 80.

Other thing to try would be go to "Advanced HTTP proxy Settings", and uncheck "Use local proxy cache", and see if your local proxy cache is causing you problems.
